We created these "wordles" or word clouds on the computer. It shows all of our favourite things. We really liked changing the layout, font and colours.
Thursday 21st November
Our farm animal posters using Comic Life.
Monday 11th November
This term we are learning about farm animals and equipment. We can't wait to visit the A&P Show on Thursday!
At the moment we are researching animals you can find on a farm with a buddy so we can create a poster using Comic Life. Today we decided on the facts we would use on our poster and started to plan what it would look like. This involves a lot of co operative work with our buddy which Miss Hyland says we are doing well. Next week we will be using the new MacBooks to create our posters.
Wednesday 14th August
Thanks Alex and Ian for bringing along your salt and sugar crystals for us to look at. They are very cool.
Friday 9th August
Our next science experiment is trying to grow crystals. We have three solutions of sugar, salt and salt with food colouring. We can't wait to see what happens.
Jamie's hypothesis: I think a crystal will only form in the blue cup
Kate hypothesis: I think that the crystals will grow in the one which has the blue food colouring
Savannah's hypothesis: I think that sugar and clear water will mix together to make a crystal
Alex's hypothesis: I think that all of the cups will grow crystals
Monday 5th August
Today we found out what happened to the egg that was in vinegar for 3 days! We found out that the vinegar is an acid and it made the shell dissolve. It then made the egg feel all rubbery.
The raw egg was very soft and we could gently squeeze it.
When we went outside to test the egg we found that the hard boiled egg bounced!!!!!
Friday 2nd August
Today we were learning to write up an experiment. We needed to remember to write the aim, hypothesis, equipment and method. Next week we will write the results and conclusion.
We are loving being scientists!
Thursday 1st August
Today we set up a new Kitchen Science Experiment. Our aim is to find out what happens to a hard boiled egg when you put it in vinegar for a few days.
Gabby's hypothesis: I think that the egg will explode
Thomas' hypothesis: I think the egg will grow big and explode
Sienna's hypothesis: I think the egg will crack and come up (float)
Lily's hypothesis: I think the boiled one will not crack and the raw egg will crack and will come out
Grace's hypothesis: I think it will turn green!
Wednesday 31st July
Today we started our new Kitchen Science Topic. It was sooooooo much fun. We were excited the whole day. We did three experiments using baking soda and vinegar: exploding sandwich bag, bubbly colours and balloon fizz-inflate.
experiments
Here we all are waiting to see what happens when the baking soda and vinegar react together in the sandwich bag.
WAITING WAITING ..... BANG! |
Friday 5th July
Today we started our "Fact Files" It was very exciting and you can see the concentration on our faces. We are trying our best to make sure our work is presented neatly. Next week we will start writing our facts.
Tuesday 2nd July
For Topic we are making a "Fact File" about either Margaret Mahy or Lynley Dodd. Today we started planning the facts we will use. We need to have five interesting facts about our chosen "Amazing New Zealand Author"
Monday 24th June
On Friday we read "Dragon in a Wagon" by Lynley Dodd. We created our own rhyming sentences and pictures following the same structure.
Wednesday 19th June
This week in Topic we have been learning about Lynley Dodd. We have read a lot of her books. We thought it was funny that she did not like Maths when she was at school.
Sam is enjoying doing his Hairy Maclary puzzle |
