Thursday 6th March

Today Neil Shasky came and took us for a specialist art lesson on cartoon drawing.  We had a fantastic time learning to draw different cartoons and showing different expressions on faces.  It's amazing what you can draw from a spoon!

Wednesday 16th October

Here are our final "Where the Wild Things Are" creations.

Wild Thing faces – after listening to the story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak, we discussed the different shapes and textures Maurice Sendak uses in his drawings.  We then used pencil to draw our own ‘wild things’ onto paper.  Our pencil drawing was then used as a guide to mark out the facial features onto a clay tile with a toothpick.  We also learnt how to apply clay to the features to build them up, using the toothbrush method of joining.  We also used mark-making tools to add textural hair, fur, face details – nostrils, whiskers, teeth etc.
Once they have dried out we will add some colour to our ‘wild things’!
